The Good And the Bad: How Social Networks Affect Our Relationships
http://domain.me/social-networks-good-and-bad/
This article makes starts off by saying that now that we have social media in our back pocket, it makes it easier for us to feel closer to out friends and family. The writer then asks "Do we really know?", from this it sprouted to how much we can learn from a persons public profile and we sometimes perceive this as "knowing" the person! In the end though the writer states that it is all about the numbers and statistics of having a social networking account. This article was kind of short, but I feel that it touched on a few good points. How do we really "know" all of these people that we consider friends. Do we realize who all sees what we post and realize how it might change the perception they have of us. This article has left me with a few questions that I will continue to ponder as I use different social networking platforms!
I enjoyed this article because it bring out the point we might be able to message people instantly that does not mean we are connecting with them. The same idea is said when someone has over 200 friends on social media, but that does not mean they really have connected with those people. This article brings up great points on how social media has a quicker connection for use but has weakened our connection with people themselves.
