The title of this article is "Searching For Your Ex On Social Media? Study Examines Why We Facebook Stalk".  The article talks about a study that was published in Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking.  The study included factors like attachment, investment in the relationship, responsibility for termination of the relationship, seeking relationship alternatives, and emotional distress after the relationship.  They found that the more commitment that was had directly related to the level of distress after the breakup.  With more distress the more social media stalking took place.  They also found that social media is potentially unhealthy enabler for those distressed about breakups.

I think that a lot of people do this kind of thing.  I think a lot of people do "stalking" even if they did not have a relationship with the person.  I think that it is interesting that the study took place using 431 participant form the Midwest too.

  1. Wow I can fully agree with the statement that the level of distress after a break up is proportional to the level of commitment during the relationship, and that the level of distress correlates with the amount or likelihood to stalk the ex. And I agree because I can relate to it! Good find on the article!
