Blog post #4 Can Social Media Actually Benefit Relationships?

http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/natasha-koifman/social-media-and-relationships_b_4115588.html

This article, unlike most of the others that I have come across, breaks down some of the benefits of having social media relationships. The headers are LinkedIn helps you build a professional network, Twitter is one of the best ways to reach out to businesses, Tinder can expand your dating pool and introduce you to new matches (fun fact-I met my fiancé on Tinder two years ago), Texting allows you to get to know someone in a more efficient way, Facebook gives the opportunity to maintain relationships with friends and family regardless of distance, and at the end of the day it's about opening up. One could easily find negatives to go with each of these positives, but the point of this article is to see the positive side.

  1. Josie I agree with this article to an extent. I feel as if social network can only benefit us so much. yes Linkedin does help build a professional network, and yes Tinder can exapnd yor dating pool, but they are both only superficial in essence. you may grow a large professional network but how useful is that network if you are not on a "first name basis?" If you dont physically know these people or interacting with them through more than the internet its tough to justify the validity of the said "professional network."
