Lindsie Woolley Module 3 article #3

http://college.usatoday.com/2012/10/11/opinion-why-social-media-is-destroying-our-social-skills/

This article talks about why and how social media is destroying our social skills. It states that social media interaction is now dominating our online as well as offline conversations. An astonishing one in four people spend more time socializing online than face to face. That is so hard to believe, 25% of people spend more time on social media like Facebook or twitter than they do talking to people in person. I sort of wonder how they measure this though. I spend probably 8 hours sleeping and then at least 8 hours at work or some days 4 hours at school, then I have home work, house hold stuff, eating, taking care of my child, and restroom breaks. I probably spend 2 hours on social media a day if you combine all the times I check it or open it. I have tons of face to face conversations at work and school so I am not so sure about this number. The article also gives a few tips on how to be "present" when others are around. Such tips included putting down the phones, not checking emails or notifications all the time.
