Briana Pontious - Module 1 Blog Post 3

For my last blog post, I chose an article about a new social media website that costs $9,000 to join and $3,000 a year after that. The article, "There's a Social Network That Costs $9,000 to Join", discusses an interview with the man who created the new site. James Touchi-Peters created a social network for wealthy 1% of our nation. The website, Netropolitan, is ad-free and only available to the "elite". It is described as a country club or a gentlemen's club setting where these elite people can discuss cars, money, and "fine wine". In the article, James talks about how well the site as done for them and that the exclusiveness actually draws people in more. There is even a 21-year old age limit!

I think that this is a good idea on the creators part because he is probably sitting on a mountain of cash right now. I also think that it is crazy and shows just how far society is willing to go. The website targets the wealthy and it did not fail. The elite swarmed to this idea. It is ridiculous to hear about what the wealthiest of the wealthiest are willing to spend their money on and how lazy they can be while doing it. Now they don't have to get up and to some fancy club to be on the "in", they can do it from the comfort of their own homes!
