Social media can take a lot of productive time out of a persons day. It may be a very effective tool and valuable to making communication more easily for work, but it also hinders people away from the reason they are using social media during the work hours. Most Americans value their time above all else, and they want to be on the lookout to cut corners. Keeping away from distractions and sticking to the main point would be a better focus for work-related social media.

Josh, I am guilty of using social media at work just as something to pass the time. Sure there are times when social media is useful and needs to be looked at but a majority of the time it is a time waster. I agree that time is our most valuable asset and it should not be wasted but when you have nothing better to do (I can speak from experience) it is nice to sometimes escape the office and go online.
