For my final blog I decided to look into how Facebook can influence people's already face-to-face relationships. While researching articles, I found one that caught my attention. According to the article, there has been a study performed that has found a positive correlation between those who have Facebook and divorce rates. The article specifically stated, there has been a 20% increase in Facebook usage and a 2% increase in divorce rates between 2008 and 2010. The article eluded to the fact that people tend to find support on social media as opposed to their partner during hard times. Therefore, couples are no longer having adequate communication skills resulting in divorce. Are there any other reasons, you think, there is a positive correlation between the use of Facebook and divorce rates, or is it just a coincidence?
