Chance Bila, Module #3- post #1

Internet addiciton is something has really caught my eye lately for some odd reason. I could never undestand how a person could develope a dependency for internet? However, after reading this article it became more clear just exactly how internet addiction can occur. The main factor being lonliness, nobody wants to feel alone shut off from the real world. I cannot imagine being a daywithout my friends and family members, I would eventually self destruct! Furthermore, internet addiction is a growing problem that can be easily stopped. maybe next some of us will think of this the next time we see the kid in the corner all by himself who's eyes havent left the computer screen for hour.

  1. I see Internet addiction as being very similar to video game addiction. I would say that there is a big difference between an addiction and dependency though. You seemed to use those two interchangeably in your post, but I do not agree that is necessarily correct. I would say that a majority of the public anymore is very dependent on the Internet, especially those with smart phones. Think about it, how likely is anyone to readily give up their instant connection to the answers to their questions, picture, and social media? I have done it and I think my life greatly improved because of it. The problem is, where is the line between dependent and addicted? A question that I have is whether or not being dependent on the Internet is acceptable or not. I say no.
