I found this article to be rather interesting, especially since
it pertains to Federal elections and social media. Social media has not only taken control of
politics in the United States, and Canada, but quite possibly every other
industrialized nation in the world. This article is about the Canadian federal
election and the candidates/ differing parties use of social media during the
Globe and Mail leaders’ debate. The three major parties used several different social
media platforms to help express their views (Facebook, Twitter, Periscope,
Vine, etc.). The three major parties
also used social media to attack one another, and promote their own party. This
article is relevant to our current module, because it shows how social media
can take control, of people and politics alike. Social media platforms remain
an outlet for those who wish to remain anonymous, as well as, those who want
their name right next to their comments.
You know I had searched about some foreign issues regarding social media and thought that this one was very interesting. Canada the country bordering us from the north. It seems to be forgotten in the United States but it certainly is full of life. The way that social media is used by the political parties some can say is cowardly. By attacking someone on social media it eliminates actual contact with that person which means no consequences can be understood. But some do use social media as a form of bettering the view that people think of them. It can help citizens create a better understanding of the individual by shows his likes, dislikes, hobbies, or entertainment interests.
