Layne Rogers - Module 3, Blog 2
There is without a doubt that there are positives to social media regarding multiple connections and keeping certain relationships intact. However, has social media interactions become more valuable than face-to-face encounters? According to the attached article, many people people do believe that connecting through social media is just as valuable. Since our lives have become busier, it is easier to compartmentalize our friendships through social media, it gives us a sense of control. Even though social media is an excellent tool, I believe there is no substitute for face-to-face interaction. It has become harder and harder to distinguish between real friendships and simple acquaintances. Like the article stated, humans need at least three to five relationships where they can interact on the deepest level. Not having these relationships can be detrimental to a person's overall wellbeing.
