Traysea Gilmore Module 3 Blog Post 4

This article talks about couples that meet/reconnect via social media. One of the couples reconnected through Facebook and ended up getting married while another couple met on Twitter. It seems like for them, social media was one of the best things to happen to their relationships. A professor in the article makes the point that when people are talking online, they don't realize the consequences but when they're talking to a person right in front of them, it is easier to know that there are consequences. Some of these consequences could be the loss of a good friend or even divorce which is mentioned. Another problem with social media is a false sense of intimacy. It's easy to feel like you know a person because of the information they put on a site but unless you've actually met that person, you don't really know them.

  1. Yes, I also ended up talking a bit about this from my article. My article wasn't just based on online relationships, but just putting yourself out there and all your information. I do see the false sense of intimacy; they can tell you all sorts of lies and you would never know it. I think meeting online is fine, but don't really feel a certain way about that person until you have met them! AND...don't send them any money! :)
