Josiah Burger Article 1

The article I just read is discussing how us as individuals are brainwashing ourselves with personalized social media. We like, retweet, and favorite posts. The social media providers track everything we do and then display posts, tweets, and articles that we are more likely interested, which are usually more aligned with our views. This article specifically centers on conflict in Gaza and how on social media pro-Israeli users tend to be shown and view only pro-Israeli article sources and pro-Palestine users view only pro-Palestine articles. Some charts display usage of Twitter and Facebook and posts that are related to each. The charts show how users who are sympathetic to a cause are shown only similar posts and how close their cause is intertwined with certain news and media outlets.
