This article took an in-depth look at the effects of social media on today's youth. It suggests that there are both good and bad effects that can occur. Considering that over half of today's youth logs onto social media sites at least once per day, it's important to understand the effects it can have on them.

The majority of the article was geared towards the positive effects of social media on youth. It stated that social media is a great way for kids to reconnect or "hang out" because of time constraints in today's world. It allows youth to build community and have friends that share similar traits ranging from interests to health conditions. Also, the article suggests that social media is a great way for youth to express their creativity.

On the bad side of things, however, is the impossible to ignore topic of cyberbullying. It's very prevalent and despite society's best efforts it will continue to be. This can deplete someone's self esteem rather quickly if it is a persistent problem. Also, sexting is something that often occurs via social media. This can lead back to the topic of cyberbullying because social media allows anything shared with someone to be broadcast to the entire world.

Overall, this article presented very valid points on both sides of the topic. Once again, social media is a fantastic tool in today's society, but shouldn't be abused.
