The last article I feel like is really important to understand especially for me since I graduate this year. This article talks about the do's and don'ts with social media. Out of the 25 examples in this article There were a couple that really stood out to me. First is make sure you do not use slang and that you use correct grammar with your accounts so it makes you look professional. Second is to only have one account so that people are not confused which one is actually you. Third is that you think before you tag someone or something in your posts. This could make you or someone you tag look bad to others and not professional.

Great read! I actually took a class last semester and we discussed a lot about proper ways to e-mail, or post on social media. Some of those things you don't always think about when sending an e-mail or tagging someone in a post. One of my pet peeves is when people post on Facebook and say things like, 'guna run to tha store 2day and by sum grocries' It takes me so much longer to type those "slang" words and I really have to think a lot more when misspelling something. Does it really save you that much more time? It sure doesn't me!
ReplyDeletePersonally I find myself using slang terms while posting on social media and it is a very bad habit. I believe that the use of cell phones and texting also have a lot to do with this, which seems to explain why some people do use bad grammar as they probably posted on social media via cell phone. I feel like having teachers that can be very particular when it comes to professional email etiquette help a lot when typing to friends and family. It makes a person stop and think "what would my future employer think of they way I am typing this message". Great article, Alex.
ReplyDeleteAlex, I think those three rules that you stated aren't stressed enough in the business world. With social media being a huge part in the business world anymore you have to make sure that your "wall" is clear of anything that could put off the wrong impression to future employers. With the ability to be able to look up information about anyone that you plan on hiring before you make that commitment is so easy to do now a days. You also don't want to post anything that would make you or your company look bad.
