Luke Friesen: Myspace is still alive

http://social-networking-websites-review.toptenreviews.com/

Believe it or not, MySpace is still active and alive. Many bands use it to promote their music, and it is like a LinkedIn page for the music world, and it is free to use. Since it first began it has changed its audience. It shows a 100% ease of use score based on the features it offers. Its site appearance is very pleasing and easy on the eyes. You do not feel as if you are scrambling to find what you are looking for. One feature of the desktop site that is unique is the feel that it is being used on a mobile device. You can swipe easily between the different "pages" within someone's profile. You can easily search for other people/profiles, and can easily manage security settings and appearance. Applications interfaces can be used within MySpace. However, it would not be the best social media site for the Kearney Children's Museum to use for its goal of reaching individuals and families about events and community events.

  1. My friends and I were just talking about how we had Myspace when we were younger so its interesting that it's still alive after so many years. Its truly interesting to see that it has morphed into a music sharing and publishing works when before it was used to get in touch much like Facebook is used today. I totally agree that it wouldn't be very affect for the Kearney Children's Museum just like it wouldn't applicable to my NPO which is the League of Human Dignity.

  2. From my understanding, Myspace is almost all about music anymore. I personally haven't logged on since I was like 13, but I do know that it is still pretty hoppin' in some music circles. From what I remember, Myspace was always pretty easy to figure out. I haven't seen any of the new updates, but I would imagine the ease of use has improved a bit over time.

  3. I think that it very interesting that Myspace is still alive and well. I haven't heard anything about it in years, but I think it was the first social networking site for a lot of people our age, so it is nice to see that it is still around. I don't think that DomestiPUPS would use Myspace though, because they are mainly looking to find people who want dogs, not people who are looking to share music.

  4. I totally forgot about MySpace until this class reminded me of it. The last I hear was that it was like you said mostly for music. I believe that Justin Timberlake is actually the new owner of it. I never actually had a myspace account, but my friends would always show me theirs and what they could do on it and from what I remember it was easy. I don't think that my NPO would benefit from MySpace because its not that popular and they are not in the music circle.
