The article that I read was titled "Getting the male perspective: Social media and relationships" it was on the USA Today's website. The article is a male view on how social media can get in the way of a relationship. The article ask the men six different questions that have to do with social media and relationships. Question 1 was would you snoop on your significant other's Facebook/Twitter account. The general opinion was that they would not because relationships are built on trust. Question 2 was what are some re flags when it comes to your significant other's social media. The red flags were mentioning other guys and favoriting a lot of the same guys Tweet. Question 3 was how would you define someone "Loyal" via social media. The guys said that people don't have to be loyal on social media because it is hard. The best example was one said "I don't have to always be a man crush Monday". The fourth question was direct messaging on twitter do you do it? Is it considered cheating if your significant other does it. The guys asked did not direct message people, but if their significant other was direct messaging a lot with someone else then that would be cheating. The fifth question was do you think social media is detrimental or beneficial to the relationship. The guys were pretty split on this, but many said both good and bad. The final question was about subtweeting. They guys said that it can get blown out of context because most of the time they are not talking about the significant other.
I had an article very similar to this! it seemed as if the main thing that starts problems is jealousy. Also i agree with this article very much I feel like if your significant other likes too many of others post it could bring up red flags and seem as a way of flirting or even cheating depending on the circumstances.
