Module 5 Flickr

The social media site that I am doing is called Flickr.  Flickr is a photo management and sharing application.  The company has two goals.  First one is they want to help people make their photos available to the people who matter to them.  Their second goal is they want to enable new ways of organizing photos and video.  Flickr is like Instagram and Pinterest because you can share pictures with other people.  It also is very good for uploading very well done pictures and keeping them in one spot.  The easy of use seems to be very straight forward to me upload pictures and share them.  There is no coast that I could find.  I think that my NPO (Arc of Buffalo County) could use Flickr because they have many events and they could show the community what they are doing through Flickr.

    I have heard of Flickr before. However, it isn't very popular. I had someone send me pictures throught Flickr. I think the Pinterest side of it is interesting. I think many organizations could benefit from using Flickr. It's a great tool to show people in the community that what they are doing. They may increase volunteers and possibly donations. I think that Flickr should get bigger just because of the amount of work they could do for organizations and just families in general.

    Flickr has been around for quite some time and it is was acquired by Yahoo in 2005. I have never really used this platform, but I know that it revolves around pictures. Flickr seems like a cloud storage platform, that is strictly for keeping and sharing pictures. This platform would probably be useful to many non-profits who would want to keep pictures and videos in a free cloud format.

    I have actually used Flickr before. It was used during an online art class and was very handy and easy to use. It allowed us to create a class group and share and comment on each other's work. The site isn't well-known, but for people involved with art and photography it should be a highly used site.

    I am an avid used of flickr and find it to be a very useful source. However,it appears as if Flickr is kind of becoming less and less popular with the growth of Instagram. This platform could be a very useful tool for my NPO. Kearney Humane Society could use Flickr to post and edit pictures of their animals that are up for adoption. This would give potential adopters to connect with animals that Keanrey Human Society has to offer. Flickr is a great option really for any type of NPO that is looking to post pictures of events, locations, and even employees within the NPO.
