Logan Yager- Module 5 Post #1
The social media outlet that I have viewed for this post is Tumblr. It has been around since February of 2007 and is mainly used by teenagers aged 13-18 years old. They hold a total user count of 34 million people which makes them quite small in comparison to other outlets. The site allows users to make text posts and include anything from videos, photos, gifs, and web links in them. It also allows users to search for various topics or accounts using key words. The site is rather easy to use, but the setup is a little more confusing then other more popular media sites. A variety of celebrities and companies use Tumblr to connect with fans, but the number isn't nearly as high as counterparts such as Facebook and Twitter. Overall, it seems like an enjoyable site that breaks away from the ordinary sites.

I have heard of Tumblr, and I do not think it would benefit my non-profit organization in particular. While it is an interesting social media platform and has many fun, creative, and diverse features, it probably has no place for my NPO. From what I have gathered, Tumblr is more of a platform for comedic content rather than for promotional reasons. On a side note, I can definitely understand why and how they have maintained their user base.
