The social media platform that I am evaluating for my second
platform is Athlinks. Athlinks is a social media platform that connects
athletes to other athletes. Its primary use is to function as a result board in
part for swimming, biking, and running races. It is free of use so it really is
useful if you are an athlete looking to track your results or that of a
competitors. There are elite professional athletes that use this site as well
as the weekend warrior. On their learn more page, it states that if you cross a
finish line, you belong on Athlinks. The website can be used in different
language so that it becomes easier to use. This site was launched in 2001 and
is still common today with over 139,000 registered users with growth but not a
large significant growth. This site wouldn’t work for my NPO because it has nothing
to do with posting specific content other than athletics and for that reason my
NPO wouldn’t be able to use it.
This is a pretty cool concept and I really like the name once you know what it's for (very clever). I can imagine that a lot of good tips are sent through this website. Plus, it's always nice to find people with similar interests. I just may check it out myself!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really awesome website! I have never heard of it, but to be able to talk with other athletes and compare times or talk about courses would be a huge benefit for me! Also this would just be nice to talk with other athletes in other areas to compare how the season is going.
