Hyper is a new social media site which seems to be a mix of Instagram and reddit. People post pictures similar to Instagram with a short caption and then their friends can vote it up or down as people do on reddit. This would be a low cost way of attracting attention for The Kearney World Theatre, but the site has a small user base. From the reviews I read, people who use the site think it will continue to grow and could become big. I'm not sure if it would be a good use of The Kearney World Theatre's time yet, but something to watch for in the future. Hyper is free to use, and so it wouldn't cost to use the platform, and would only cost somebodies time and maybe a little bit of content. Hyper seems very easy to use, take a photo, write a short caption, and then post it for your friends to vote on.

I think that this site is really going to be a pretty big in the social media in a few years like you have said. The free of cost is going to be very big too making it easy for the younger generation to get involved in and start voting and using to communicate their likes. I think your right in saying that at the moment it wouldn't be great for some NPO's but I believe in the relatively short future Hyper will make a big contribution to social media platforms.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if a company, who already uses Instagram, would have much of a hardship if they also want to create and start a Hyper account. Since the sites are so similar would it be beneficial to go ahead and have accounts on both media sites, even though Hyper is quite a bit smaller. If they have the potential to grow it may be best to get on the site when they are still small instead of waiting and then getting buried with 100 million other users.
