Ethan Young - Article #3 Module 3

"Kim Stolz: How Social Media Is Ruining Our Relationships" is a very spot on article.  She discusses how wrapped up in our smartphones we really are.  For instance when we are sitting in class a majority of us cannot wait for it to end so we can check our phones incase the world stopped spinning while we were away from our phones.  Or when you're on a date and you or your partner are on the phone the entire time; put down your phone and enjoy the moment.  The phone will be there tomorrow but the moment you're in now won't be.  Facebook won't shutdown while you're in class or on a date.

  1. Ethan,

Great article, very good points about how people need to be able to enjoy the moment. So many people are letting life pass by them without even looking away from their screens.

  2. Ethan,

I also think people use their phones too much. A lot of people go to hang out with their friends and just sit and look at their other friends and wish they were with them instead. People should just enjoy what they are doing now and they would be more happy.

  3. I hate how everyone has their noses buried in their phones at the beginning of classes. I am like people we are here face to face lets talk and create friendships. In the majority of my classes people just sit on their phones but in one class I experimented with talking to the people who sat around me every day. Now we all talk to each other and generally no one is on their phone when we talk. I think it is very imoportant to put your phone down when you are spending time with someone. I always lay my phone face down when I am having a conversation or spending time with someone. This takes away the temptation to check it every few seconds. I think it is good to stay connected through social media but we don't want to lose that face time with others.
