I found the website Blab to review for my article this week.
Blab is an interesting social media platform, it’s much like Face Timing, or
other social media tools that let your stream video conversations. It is
interesting because it lets four people video chat at a time while discussing
important topics. The social media site could also be used for music collaboration
while in different towns. Many people are even starting making their own video
shows using the site. Blab is connected to Twitter so it is very easy to share
Blabs and increase your content sharing tying the Twitter world more together
through video. The cost of use is free because it is coupled with Twitter which
makes it very popular among the younger generation. The reliability of this
platform however is something to be concerned about because of the vast majority
of video chat outlets on the web. I don’t think this platform would be very
effective with my NPO because it really is only used among younger generation
and is not as much used by corporations and non-profit organizations.
Alex,
ReplyDeleteI haven't ever used Blab, but from what you have said here and my limited research of the company, I would agree with you that it is a small video streaming site amongst many others. It is convenient that it is connected to Twitter though so that you could tweet videos. I'm not sure how you could advertise through this site though, especially if you could only reach 3 other people at a time.
It seems that this site would be an all-or-nothing use. Big businesses that partner together could get great use out of it, but smaller businesses wouldn't have much use for it. When I first read about it, it gave off the vibe of being a business conference call website.
ReplyDeleteIt seems this sight would be a good fit for small business or school projects. Anything over 4 people or team leaders would not be handled very well. I have a class this term that has 6 people in our group. This site would be a poor choice for us to use as two people would have to sit out of the video chat every time. It has limited uses; however, it you have the right size group and project it could be beneficial.
