Ethan Young - Module #1 Article 3

This article is split up into a couple different categories and the area I was focused on was the "Pros and Cons of Social Networking".  After reading through each argument whether it be a pro or a con I have to say that I agree with every single one of them.  For instance on one of the cons they talk about how easily false information can spread, which is very true, that leads to rumors and then it always turns out that someone gets hurt.  One of the pros talked about how law enforcement uses social media to track down criminals.  Being as a majority of criminals aren't the brightest bulbs in the box they could "check in" on Facebook allowing the police to help hunt him down.

  1. Ethan,

I agree that false information can and does get spread sometimes on social media, and there isn't really anything anyone can do to stop it. I like the con about how students who are heavy social media users tend to have lower grades. There have been plenty of times that I should be doing homework, but instead I find myself scrolling through news feeds.

    Keep up the good work!

  2. After reading this article I find it very interesting! It is unreal how much time we as a society spend on social media. I do think it is a great tool to connect with people that you may have met once or twice but may not know them very well until you see them on social media. But on the other hand, it seems like a lot of kids can't have a conversation face to face but instead they want to text or call someone. Also it might make someone look like the perfect candidate for a job if they are great at saying what they need to say in an email or by the appearance of their Facebook profile. But after hiring them and talking to them face to face it seems like they have no idea how to communicate. So many pros and cons to social media! Good article!
