Bailey Davis Module 1-Article 1

"Murder on social media: Killer wanted the world to watch"

This article is about the killer that was posting on twitter right as he was shooting three people during an interview. The killer (Vester Lee Flanagan) was angry because he had been fired from the station in 2013. He obviously wanted some attention, and after posting on Twitter, he posted videos of himself as he shot the three victims.
I decided to post this article because it shows the power of social media, and how it can be used in a negative way. There are definitely good outcomes from social media, but in this incident, it was a medium for a sick person to boost his ego and try to get revenge.

  1. Bailey, I saw this on the news and unfortunately the video of the shooting was also shown. I was shocked to see and hear such things happening. Clearly, this was a cry for help. However, this man won't be getting help, he will be getting punishment. What I don't quite understand is how the devastation of another shooting motivated him to shoot someone himself. My original post showed one of the positives of social media and my second showed one possible negative. However, your post and article are a great example of why social media can be negative. Social media can easily be seen as a great platform for someone's 15 minutes of fame, which can lead to bad behavior.
