This article first caught my eye, while I was looking through my newsfeed on Facebook. This article is about a fourteen year old boy named Kim Sung-jin, who decided to daily record himself eating dinner. Kim uses an application called Afreeca TV, which is a social media platform used by many teenagers in South Korea. This young man, not only records himself eating dinner for fun, but also makes about $1,700 an episode. Much like users of YouTube, Instagram, or other social media applications, Afreeca TV seems to be the new rage in Kim's neck of the woods. Initially, Kim started eating on live broadcast so that he wouldn't have to eat alone. Since his parents worked in a different city, and he didn't feel comfortable eating as early as his grandparents, Kim resorted to his webcam. I think that this article is relevant to social media, because Kim is using social media for entertainment, as well as income.

This article is truly fascinating to me, it really hits on the point that in other countries around the world social media isn't just being used to contact with friends but it is being used as an interactive tool to supplement television. Instead of merely watching TV and not being able to add anything to the program in this social media app called Afreeca TV young viewers in South Korea can pose questions without actually having to be in the same city. Its also truly amazing that something so simple as sitting down and eating supper is making this young man $1,700 dollars at his most popular episode. As you stated before I believe you are spot on in saying that not only is social media being used for entertainment but also for income.
