The Good and the Bad of Social Media for kids

I found the article "Facebook, Twitter, Social Networking: Good or Bad for Kid's Brain," and found that it was a good article because it had to do with the good and the bad of social media for younger students because I think it is important one because I am going to be working with students in the educational sphere but also because I feel that it is important for young kids as well as their parents to be involved in their media lives. Yes we all know that there are good and bad things when it comes to social media, but given the right material kids and parents can learn to use social media to explore the far reaches of this world. This article gives a full description of what the negatives of social media such as sexual predators, and decreased face-to-face interaction but it also gives a full list of the positives of social media. The positives are that kids interact more than ever and students are learning in a more peer to peer based learning. The major thing that I really liked about this article was that it also gave how parents can make the most of kids social media usage such as monitoring their time as well as pushing kids to spend more time in the real world instead of the cyber world. As we can see the line between good and bad social media activity is very vague and blurry line but with the proper education social media can be used for truly glorious reasons.
