Blog Post #1-Sasha Mettenbrink

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/facebook-likes-can-paint-a-very-intimate-picture-of-who-we-are/ar-AAdLeXs

The article that I selected discusses how  person can reveal information about themselves and display who they are not only through the items that the person post, but also through the items that they like. On Facebook people are able to like pages, movies, music, organizations, friends posts, and many other items. A person can get a good idea of your personality and what kinds of interests that you have. With being close to graduation we will begin applying for jobs where often times employers view our profiles and be able to view the likes that we have. This is why I think that this post is relevant to this class because social media pages could cause a person to not get a job if they have undesirable or inappropriate likes on their page. How a person displays themselves outside of the workplace is extremely important to businesses since the person will also represent their company.

  1. You bring up some very important points and so does this article about what our future employers can be looking for and see not just through things that we have said on social media but also through the things we like and post.I would have never thought that someone could learn intimate things about my life through things that I like. We want to paint this picture of a good perfect life on social media and that is what we think we do but in all reality this article shows just how hard it is to control social media. It is hard to keep track of our lives on social media so I think that his article is great for showing that our lives and our beliefs, likes, and opinions can be examined through a microscope on social media.
