What is Web 3.0?

http://webtrends.about.com/od/web20/a/what-is-web-30.htm

This article is fairly similar to some of the articles we are to read for this module in that is defines 3.0 and gives us an idea of what it looks like. However, the article states that it is hard to define Web 3.0 when there isn't a very clear definition of what Web 2.0 looks like. Despite this, there are pretty clear ideas of what Web 3.0 offers in terms of new developments, international impact, and where the focus will lie.

  1. I find it quite amusing that we are on the verge of transitioning to Web 3.0 when according to the article we don't even understand the Web version (2.0) we are transitioning from. This new Web version feels too much like a big brother is watching all of this time for me to be really comfortable with. I don't think I like the idea that everything is presented to me because of what the Web determines that I like due to past searches. How are we to grow when we are always presented with the same things?
