Luke Friesen- Module 7 Blog Post #2: Facebook and Walmart: What do they have in common?

The future of social media is as much a mystery and as full of potential as the internet itself. According to this article, sites like Facebook could become equivalent of an online Walmart and possibly be pairing in the same role as sites like Amazon.com. Just like Amazon makes suggestions of what to look for next based on what you previously bought, social media will continue to expand that service, even to the point of suggesting coupons and promotions based on your exact location. This article also suggests that social media will be more of a dashboard for company development. The idea of "semantic web" will be the reality, in which, the info we want to know will be coming to us from the companies that collect data on their followers, so we will be fed the info we'd normally have to search for.
