Logan Yager- Module 5 Post #2

The social media site that I will be discussing in this post is About.me. The site allows users to link all of their social media accounts to this site to create a sense of unity between the accounts. This gives access to each media outlet all from one place. This is useful because an NPO may have several social media accounts with nothing connecting them. The site was founded in October 2009 which makes it a relatively new company. The site is aimed towards just about anyone, but the main focus seems to be on companies or the business individual looking to get their name out and have all of their social media located in one place. The site allows users to post blogs, weblinks, photos, or videos as well as link other social media accounts to it. I feel that if the site continues to improve upon itself then it will have a bigger name in the coming years.

  1. I'd heard of this platform in passing but I'd never given it much thought. It's nice that you can link all of those social media accounts especially for something like an NPO. Maybe when this platform gets a little bigger, my NPO could possibly use this to get a bigger audience.

  3. With there being so many active social media sites this platform seems to be quite practicle with being able to connect every social media account to a single person. This would definitely be a site I can see myself using in the future. However, I do not see this tool be a practicle utility for my NPO. Kearney Humana Society is really non existent on any other social media platfrom other than Facebook. Facebook, though, is really the best marketing option for Kearney Humane society which makes about.me, unfortunately, unpracticle for my NPO.

  4. I think that I may have heard of this before, but I have never looked it up, but it sounds like a nice way to organize a person's life. These days everyone has at least 3 or 4 social media accounts so having them all connected will help keep me organized.

  5. I've heard of this website before as well! I like how this site makes it easy for the users to access all outlets from one place. I think that this would be good for an NPO as well to easily monitor all their campaigning strategies and keep it simple on their end.
