There is no denying that social media has gone through some major changes within the past decade, and that there are more changes to come. This article predicts what the major changes in social media will be in the next few years. According to the article, 200 million people use social media and by 2016 that number will increase to 2 billion users. Therefore, social media platforms are looking to improve their sites. One major change is to have the platforms focus more on personality, meaning social media users will need to have a complete profile. Users can refuse to add a picture or bio to their page; however in the upcoming years this may change, due to the fact that a complete profile can help advertisers target their audience better through ads using complete profiles. Another prediction is social media platforms will be able to tailor their content to specific users in real time. If this were to happen advertisers' messages will not get lost in the enormous amount of information that may show up on a person's news feed. Overall based on these few predictions, we are in for some major changes to our social media sites over these next few years.

Wow! What a great article. I really enjoyed how each prediction gave such a great example of what social media is like now and what it could be like in the future. It makes it a lot easier to understand and I like when they speak in a language I get. Some of these articles I have came across use a lot of words and terms that I don't get; I am an 'average' tech user, so some of these things are brand new.
ReplyDeleteI am curious to see what they will make users have in their profiles. I never put my address, or phone number, so I sure hope those won't end up being requirements.
