Module 7- Article 4

For my final article I chose to do one that talks about what to expect from social media in the future.  When Mark Zuckerberg announced the launch of Facebook to that becoming a 200 billion dollar industry look how far we've come already.  With Facebook acquiring programs like Instagram and Whatsapp they are the clear front runner with Twitter closing the gap.  Social media has changed the way we hear about important events; with videos on your news feed to podcasts showing up it's hard to imagine what they'll come up with next.

The article below talks about 5 predictions that they see by 2020 for social media. They are social media makes big data even bigger, mobile and entertainment will morph, marketing programs will reintegrate, content marketing will grow, and the power of your network will deliver. It is crazy to think about 2020 already, but I think that they make some good points especially with with how mobile and entertainment will morph. Technology is constantly changing and will always do so, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds.

Module 7 - Post 4 Briana Pontious

http://www.cio.com/article/2984924/social-networking/facebook-drives-increase-in-social-media-satisfaction.html

I chose this article because I really like how it talks about how much all these advancements and improvements companies are making for their social networking sites actually pays off. This article says that just within the last two years, consumer satisfaction reviews for social networking sites have climbed tremendously and put them with the top industries, whereas just two years ago they were categorized with the bottom three industries. So people may criticize that social networking is evolving too much and becoming too advanced, but by the looks of it, everyone likes it a lot better.

In the last article that I found it talks about the evolving of web 3.0. First off there was web 1.0, which was the start of internet and being able to surf the web. Next came web 2.0 which most of us are familiar with. This brought out faster surfing, control, more social, and just all around a better experience for the user. Now web 3.0 is brings more to the table. Web 3.0 markets to the user and bring them to what they are more interested in to their profiles. It knows where you go and can suggest since you got this you may like this. This is basically taking each and everyone who uses the internet and sets up a target market for them. I think it is pretty cool how web 1.0 started off a just a search engine basically, now web 3.0 is fitting to you.

This document talked about a really interesting idea, and it kind of goes along with artificial intelligence! This article focuses on Twitter and how Web 3.0 will play a large part with the technology behind it. What it will be doing is weighing tweets and then matching them to interests of the people who follow the tweeter. So another way to say this is Web 3.0 will be able to tell which tweets you would like without you even reading them.

The author describes how this will be doing similar things to what a brain does. When two cranial neurons fire at the same time in the same location then that creates a bond and a relationship, which will strengthen with more simultaneous firings. So if neuron A fires at the same time or similar time as B then the next time A fires there is a good change that B will too. The more times they fire together the stronger the relationship is. This is the concept that Web 3.0 wants to bring to twitter. It will weigh tweets that you have liked in the past and weighs tweets that you haven't seen in the present moment, and if it is something that you would retweet, it does it for you without you even needing to read it. Thats amazing!

Nick Meyer Post 7.3

This article talks about the future of social media with regards to education.  It states that the future is to have Personal Learning Networks that help people share their ideas and knowledge with others, to create an environment full of learning.  This sounds a lot different than the social media platforms of today where there are mainly just videos people doing funny (or stupid) things.

Something that caught my eye in this article right away was that it stated that there is over 100 hours of video uploaded to YouTube every minute. It also stated that only about 32.77% of people have regular access to the Internet. I found this interesting because I thought this number would be 60-65% with how popular social media is. Looking to the future the article talks about how people can expect to have more control over settings and profiles on social media accounts. This will make users happy because everyone wants to personalize their account page.
