This article features various predictions of how the future of social media will turn out. There are 11 predictions made by various individuals who are heavily involved in social media. The overall consensus is that social media will either be non-existent and a thing of the past or it will be integrated into our lives at such a level that we won't notice it until it's gone. Both sides, however, agree on one main point. That is that every aspect of our lives will be controlled by the internet. Many of the predictions stated that wearable technology or even implants into people's bodies will allow social media to be used on-the-go flawlessly. Also, many predictions were that virtual reality will be implemented at such a degree that people will be able to meet up with friends in "virtual malls" and even try on clothes with their avatar that resembles them. It's crazy to think that these are actual possibilities and they aren't even that far away. It will be interesting to see how social media evolves in the coming years.
I like the idea of all the possibilities that come with this new version of the web. So many different possibilities exist. There are a lot of parts of this new Web that I don't like. I don't like the idea that every aspect of my life could be controlled by the internet. I am okay with wearable technology because I already have a Charge HR that I wear everyday. How ever I definitely don't want any implants. I find the implant thing really hard to believe. I know a lot of people who can't even get piercings or birth control implants because their body just rejects them.
